Chicken has feelings too you know?

Now chicken has to be the most abused animal on the planet. In the U.S., more than 7 billion chicken are killed for their flesh each year, and 452 million hens are used for their eggs.

Ninety-nine percent of these animals spend their lives in total confinement. From the moment they hatch until the day they are killed. Even though two-thirds of Americans say that they would support such a law, yet not a single federal law protects chickens from abuse. More chickens are raised and killed for food than all other land animals combined.

I’m not strongly against this chicken cruelty. But I just thought it needed some attention. I get it, I’m sure most of us are all thinking that this chicken farming is necessary for our food resources. I agree and back then I used to not care about these problems at all. After staying in this class for while, I’ve noticed how valuable life is. Just like the vanishing bee or the slaughter of the dolphins, it taught me a lesson that we should be at least aware of something.

Now others would say chickens are…. just simply a stupid creature, but no. Many people do not realize that chickens are inquisitive, interesting animals who are as intelligent as mammals such as cats, dogs, and even some primates.

chickens raised on factory farms each year in the U.S. never have the chance to do anything that is natural or important to them. A baby chick on a factory farm will never be allowed contact with his or her parents, let alone be raised by them. These chickens are deprived of the chance to take dust baths, feel the sun on their backs, breathe fresh air, roost in trees, or build nests. They are bred and drugged to grow so large so quickly that their legs and organs can’t keep up, making heart attacks, organ failure, and crippling leg deformities common. Many become crippled under their own weight and eventually die because they can’t reach the water nozzles. When they are only 6 or 7 weeks old, they are crammed into cages and trucked to slaughter.

Now of course, you shouldn’t feel terrible every time when you eat a chicken! Chicken tastes good, who couldn’t resist the taste of a chicken! All i’m saying that we should be aware and we can help this cruelty.

I’ve made this little project….. as you can see it’s just a burger king.

… but once you open it!!!

There’s a sad chicken ):

  1. There was this vine of a young kid who was really close with a chicken. He bent down and opened his arms and the chicken willingly embraced him and loved the hug. I never felt chickens could ever be that compassionate to a human being. They always tend to run away from us and be scared all the time, but after I saw that video it really made me rethink my decision in eating meat. Thats why it freaks us out when we hear that other cultures eat dogs and cats because they’re something that comforts us and knows what we’re feeling. We don’t think much about chicken, but now it seems like they are pretty intelligent animals.
