DIRT

Dirt is dirty and I would not think that it matter or play a vital role in the ecosystem. This is of course wrong. There are minerals and other important substances in it that keeps everything in and on the ground living. Plants and animals living underground, as well as the ‘health’ of the ground to keep erosion away.

I was blown away the fact that people that own lands to grow plants really took care of their dirt and know whether their dirt is good or not by smelling and tasting it. I would never think that just from this two factors we can actually determine the health of dirt.

It’s very scary how us human have the power to kill the ground; killing the ecosystem. Turning a land covered in water into a desert wasteland. It is devastating, if this keeps happening. In the end, we might actually kill the world by not only causing the global warming but also by hurting the ground which can lead to a chain effect to the ecosystem.

  1. Watching that video and seeing the guy that had the vineyard eat the dirt was super weird. But then it was crazy to see that he could tell you the health of the dirt and what “kind” of dirt it was. And I agree of course with our power. We’re going to run out of land eventually.

    • Haha, yes I didn’t know that eating dirt is a thing amongst gardening enthusiasts. Also in the end it seems that us human will be the cause to our own extinction because by killing the source of life, we are also hurting ourselves.

  2. It is terrifying how we have the power to kill dirt. It’s worrying to see what would happen if dirt is dead permanently. A lot of plants and animals who need dirt for its nutrients wouldn’t survive. In a way, without dirt, our whole planet would kinda be doomed for survival.

  3. Yeah. I think we should think about the long term of use of the soil.
Human and soil can’t be separated. As you say we could impact each other in a really good way and bad way. It’s our choice right? 🙂

    • The same thing happening back in my country, what is worst is that there is a case where hectares of land were covered with mud that some company dug up in search of gas fuel and the mud would just flow nonstop and kill everything underneath it.

  4. No, no, no. We’re a chemical mixture that makes chaos. We’re… we’re a time-bomb – Bruce Banner- (not sure if this is relevant or not)

I think it is scary to think that we holds the power to destroy the mother earth. if us, had the power to starts it, we also have the power to stop it. I think the solution is up to us whether we want to make it happen or not. and that starts with treating our land better, treating our garden better (maybe) i think by doing small things, we do help mother earth.
