Recently I saw a film that put things into perspective for me, it was called ‘Home’ and I really recommend watching it. The film to me served as a wake up call because of the profound facts that it offers to the viewer. Climate change is only one of the things that the film focuses on. It also shows us the link between man and nature and provides an optimistic view of a fragile future. The film is streaming free on youtube. I have heard people say that climate change is something that is occurring but there is nothing we can do to slow it down. I agree with them that one person’s actions are a very tiny step towards change, but if you have a lot of people joining together doing simple things, change will come. In your home there are lots of simple things you can do such as turning the lights off when you leave a room, being smart about the way you use air conditioning, and using water more efficiently. The key is to reduce, reuse, and recycle in everything that you do. Buying a smart car is not possible for everyone, but driving smart is. To improve your fuel economy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions you could switch to a bike for short distances. There are innumerable amounts of small actions you can do that can reduce your personal effect on climate change.
